STATEMENT OF WORK
TO PROVIDE
ACCESS TO SURPLUS MATERIAL PARTS DATABASE
1.0. SCOPE.
1.1. Background. Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Weapon Systems Support (WSS), Philadelphia and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, requires access to a commercially available, web-based parts and materials database to support sustainment of Naval Weapon Systems and Platforms operating beyond their projected service lives. As weapon systems age, components required to meet operational maintenance and readiness requirements increasingly become obsolete, discontinued, or difficult to source through traditional supply channels. Engineers, item managers, and equipment specialists require timely access to current and historical parts information to identify required material; research part numbers, specifications, and manufacturer information; locate cross-referenced or form-fit-function replacement parts; identify potential sources of supply; and obtain available shipping and procurement information. The required database capability will support informed supply and engineering decisions, reduce time spent conducting manual market research, improve identification of viable replacement or alternate items, and help mitigate readiness risks associated with component obsolescence and diminishing manufacturing sources. Access is required for authorized NAVSUP WSS personnel supporting naval weapon-system sustainment activities at the Philadelphia and Mechanicsburg locations. 1.2. Scope. This Statement of Work defines the requirement for government expectations and access to a parts availability database.
