1.0 GENERAL
The purpose of this project is to remove and replace the existing Cab Roof and Catwalk Roof Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) waterproofing systems and to remove and replace the existing Cab Roof and Catwalk Roof access hatches at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) facility in Hilo, Hawaii. The work is intended to correct existing roof drainage and ponding conditions, eliminate water intrusion associated with the Cab Roof and Catwalk areas, provide complete watertight roof and roof access hatch systems, and provide safe access through the new access hatch installations.
Water intrusion has been observed at multiple locations below the Catwalk and Cab Roof areas. The Contractor’s responsibility under this project is to correct exterior roofrelated conditions within the defined project scope, including roofing membrane, drainage interfaces, flashing, hatch systems, penetrations, railing-post/cone interfaces, roof-to-wall interfaces, sealants, and related waterproofing conditions. Broad repair or replacement of interior finishes, HVAC equipment, electrical equipment, or other unrelated building systems affected by previous water intrusion is not included unless specifically identified in this SOW or subsequently authorized by written contract modification.
Due to the coastal, high-moisture, and salt-air environment in Hilo, exterior materials must be corrosion resistant. New hatch assemblies, curbs, exposed support components, hardware, fasteners, anchors, and other new exposed metal components furnished under this project must be stainless steel unless otherwise specifically approved by the Contracting Officer.
The Contractor must independently field verify all existing conditions, dimensions, measurements, elevations, clearances, openings, hatch dimensions, ladder locations, roof areas, penetrations, and other conditions necessary to perform the work. Dimensions and measurements provided by the FAA are for reference and coordination purposes only. The Contractor is responsible for obtaining and verifying all measurements required for fabrication, ordering, and installation before proceeding
