This is not a solicitation and does not commit the Government to any future acquisition.
- INTRODUCTION The U.S. Forest Service is conducting market research to identify capable vendors able to design, manufacture, and deliver custom outdoor-rated steel enclosures for electronic display equipment. The Government seeks industry input regarding capability, production lead times, materials, standards compliance, and potential manufacturing considerations.
- BACKGROUND The Forest Service requires 45 custom enclosures designed to house a six-character outdoor digital display unit. These enclosures must protect the device from weather, impact, and environmental exposure while providing specific mounting and sun?shade functionality. All requirements are functional and performance?based; no proprietary industrial design elements are required or included.
- OBJECTIVE OF THIS RFI The Government seeks industry feedback on: • Capability to manufacture enclosures meeting the dimensional, material, and performance requirements listed below. • Potential challenges, recommended alternatives, or suggestions to improve manufacturability or durability. • Estimated pricing ranges for planning purposes (not binding). • Estimated production and delivery timelines. • Identification of any commercially available products that meet or could be modified to meet the requirements.
- FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS (SUMMARY) Vendors responding to this RFI should describe their ability to meet the following performance?based requirements: 4.1 Enclosure Function • Outdoor?rated steel enclosure similar in function to an industrial wireway or gutter box. • Must accommodate a display unit measuring approximately 11?H × 33?L × 4?D. • Provide weather resistance and structural protection in an outdoor environment. 4.2 Approximate Enclosure Dimensions • Exterior dimensions around 14?H × 36?L × 12?D. 4.3 Construction Requirements • Material equivalent to 14?gauge steel, painted interior and exterior. • Environmental rating equivalent to NEMA Type 4 or 12. • Fully sealed to prevent water and weather intrusion. 4.4 Mounting Features • Two rear mounting feet, each with two mounting holes. • Mounting hole spacing approximately 34 inches center?to?center. 4.5 Cover Design and Sun?Shade Functionality • Removable front cover that can be mechanically secured on top of the enclosure to act as a sunshade. • Shade cover must remain stable in typical outdoor wind conditions. • Features such as studs, collars, clamps, or similar mechanical retention systems are acceptable—vendors may propose alternatives. 4.6 Interior Mounting Panel • Removable panel suitable for mounting the customer?provided electronic display. 5. VENDOR RESPONSE REQUESTED Interested vendors are invited to submit the following information: Company Information: • Name, address, point of contact, DUNS/UEI, small business status. Capability Statement: • Description of relevant manufacturing experience. • Ability to meet or exceed the functional requirements listed above. Technical Feedback: • Any potential challenges with the requirements. • Recommendations to reduce cost or improve durability while maintaining function. Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) Pricing: • Non-binding estimate for a quantity of 45 units. Estimated Lead Time: • Production timeline from receipt of specifications to delivery. Product Literature or Photos (if applicable): • Examples of similar enclosures previously manufactured. 6. RESPONSE INSTRUCTIONS Responses should be submitted electronically in PDF or Word format. This RFI is solely for market research; submission does not guarantee future solicitation or contract award. 7.
