Scope
This specification defines requirements for the enclosure of the USB breath switch, filter, and mouth tube. The USB breath switch is an accessory for patrons of the talking-book program. The breath switch is used by patrons with physical limitations that have difficulty using the NLS player’s keypad. In some cases the physical limitation may make it impossible to operate a keypad. The breath switch provides for control of the player using pulses of air. The breath switch consists of a tube held in the patron’s mouth and programmable electronic components that translate air pulses into keypad commands. The tube contains an inline filter to protect the electronics from moisture and remain sanitized. The electronic components are enclosed in a custom designed plastic housing created with injection molding technology.
