The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) intends to enter into an Agreement with The University of Texas System consortium of universities in support of the Biological Technologies Office (BTO) Texas Shield Program for an integrated research initiative focused on autonomous medical care, casualty evacuation, clinical decision support, and resilient medical supplies in austere and contested environments.
The Texas Shield Program seeks to develop and transition an integrated ecosystem of autonomous and semi-autonomous medical technologies and scalable solutions for critical medical consumables to support lifesaving medical care in contested, austere, and resourcelimited environments. Research activities are expected to address interconnected technical areas that include autonomous medical systems, casualty evacuation, robotic surgical systems, artificial-blood and supply innovation, software/artificial intelligence-enabled clinical decision support, and mass-casualty science and simulation.
DARPA intends to execute an agreement with the University of Texas System consortium of universities primarily under the authority of 10 U.S.C. § 4021. DARPA may also use other available authorities, including 10 U.S.C. § 4022 and 4023, as appropriate.
