1.0 GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1 DISCLAIMER: This Request for Information (RFI) is issued solely for information and planning purposes. It does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. This RFI does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. The Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI. All costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party’s expense. 1.2 PURPOSE: The T-38 Program Office is conducting market research to identify potential sources and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or Non-Developmental Item (NDI) solutions for the replacement of obsolete, analog components within the Attitude Heading & Reference System (AHRS) of T-38A and AT-38B Talon aircraft.

2.0 BACKGROUND

The T-38A and AT-38B Talon fleet is a critical asset supporting the readiness and proficiency of the United States Air Force, utilized by Air Combat Command (ACC) and Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC). While these aircraft have been upgraded with the Astronautics AFI4700 Roadrunner Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), they continue to rely on a suite of legacy analog components for core AHRS functions. High failure rates and the inability to repair these obsolete components present a direct negative impact on aircraft availability, readiness, and flight safety. This effort seeks to address this urgent need.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS OVERVIEW

The Government is seeking information on solutions to replace several obsolete LRUs within the T-38's existing avionics architecture, as depicted in the diagram below.
