SECTION 01 11 00 – SUMMARY OF WORK
PART 1 - GENERAL
WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
This work consists of replacing eleven (11) metal pipe swing gates located throughout the Dinosaur National Monument (DINO). Six (6) of these are double leaf, and the other five (5) are single leaf gates. The existing manual swing gates vary in length & height, and the metal pipe sizes vary in diameter. All locations and dimensions will be verified by the contractor to ensure their bid proposal is accurate. Contractor is responsible for the removal and legal disposal of the existing metal gates. The following conditions apply to this project: The park has some materials that will be provided to the contractor. See Section 01 11 00, Part 1 General, 1.4 Government Furnished Materials for list of items. These items may not be sufficient to replace all identified gates, and contractor may be required to supply additional materials to complete the fabrications. All contractor supplied materials must be approved by the Contracting Officer (CO), and be of identical dimensions, content and quality, or approved equal. Removal of gates will include removal of any mounted signs and reflectors, and any other miscellaneous items impeding work. All removed items will be replaced in kind with new signage and reflective markers compliant with the most current edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MCTUD). Items must be approved in writing by the park and CO prior to purchase. Items will be properly installed by contractor prior to final inspection. The new gates will match the other gates that were previously installed in a separate project, see APPENDIX B for two gate shop drawing examples. All new gates will have a welded stop block to prevent gate swinging past 90-degree angle when in OPEN position. Paint will be FIELD applied and matched to existing texture and color of other DINO gates. Gates are currently painted OSHA Safety Yellow with a semi-gloss finish. No lead paint is suspected at any of the gate sites. If lead paint is discovered, contractor will notify park and CO. Contractor will reference Section 02 83 00 LEAD SAFE PRACTICES for guidance.
