STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)

Description of Requirement: Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) and Medicine Specialty Services have a requirement for 170 barcode scanners for the implementation of the new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system throughout the Phoenix VA Healthcare System; for its main facility and CBOCs (Ambulatory Care Nursing, Primary Care, and Medicine Specialty). The scanners will be used throughout the facility/clinics to scan patient wristbands and patient IDs to enter and verify patient information into the system when being treated (for medical services such as lab services and immunizations).

Background: In many cases, staff currently enter patient information manually into the system which slows down the current workflow and increases administrative errors. With numerous patients being treated throughout the Phoenix VA Healthcare System in a daily basis, having barcode scanners to automate the input/intake of patient information into the system will minimize mistakes, enhance workflow efficiency, and increase productivity by saving a significant amount of time and manpower for the PACT and Medicine Specialty Services. The estimated total cost for this one-time purchase is $113.865.50.

As part of the agency-wide VA Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization initiative, the Phoenix VA will transition from the current Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) to the new Oracle Health, Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The Corded Barcode Scanner Honeywell Xenon Ultra 1960H (HHD) and the Cordless Barcode Scanner Honeywell Xenon Ultra 1962H (HHD) are the compatible barcode scanners authorized and approved to operate with the new EHR system within a healthcare environment. Refer to the attached list of authorized/approved Oracle Health Validated Barcode Scanners.

End-users:

One hundred (100) corded barcode scanners will be used by the PACT (throughout the CBOCs). Seventy (70) cordless scanners will be used by the Medicine Specialty clinics (throughout the main facility).
