PICK ONE
Sole Source:
☒I recommend that NASA, NASA Shared Services Center negotiate with Conrad-Kacsik Instrument Systems, Inc. only for ABAR calibration and certification services. The total estimated cost of this effort is

Brand Name Justification:
☐I recommend that NASA, NASA Shared Services Center negotiate with only with vendors who can provide the subject band name from Manufacture Name for Enter Supply or Service to be procured. The total estimated cost of this effort is Enter Dollar amount and the estimated period of performance or lead-time for delivery is Date.
This recommendation is for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source/only one manufacture. Competition is impractical for the following reasons (please answer the questions below):
1. What are the reasons for soliciting only the suggested source/suggested brand name? Please provide the unique characteristics of the items or services along with the supporting rationale and the market research performed to substantiate your reason for the suggested source/brand name. This contract is for an annual service contract with Conrad-Kacsik Instrument Systems, Inc. to perform periodic calibration and certification of two ABAR vacuum furnaces installed in building 1148 at NASA Langley Research Center. These ABAR furnaces are being used to perform critical heat treatments for Class A spaceflight hardware requiring documented calibration and temperature uniformity certification. The ABAR vacuum heat treatment furnaces are older pieces of equipment (built in 1973 and 1981), so most vendors are not familiar with their operations and setup. Conrad-Kacsik is an accredited provider of furnace certifications that has experience with our specific hardware. Conrad-Kacsik provided the initial certification and subsequent verifications, so the continuity of remaining with the same service provider ensures the best option for maintaining consistency in our certification of both furnaces for use on critical hardware.
2. What is the impact to the government if another vendor/brand is used? Include any dollar, schedule, or compatibility impacts if possible.
The technical risk of using another vendor is the potential for invalidating our existing certification due
