Questions & Answers from Responding Entities
Updated daily as questions come into the [email protected] inbox. Q1:
Q: What support may NASA Centers provide to state response teams? A: NASA Centers must not provide any assistance in preparing the State’s proposal, including advice or opinions on the State’s proposed approach to establishing the USSA or discussion of any information regarding NASA’s requirements. Centers may have limited communications with State response teams to provide a description of any NASA locations available for the establishment of the USSA, including underutilized or excess space otherwise available for outgrant. In that capacity, Centers may answer questions from State Responding Entities but should not proactively offer NASA locations if not specifically requested by the State Responding Entity. Appropriate details which may be shared with State Responding Entities, upon request, include the value of the land, the location and condition of any existing buildings or facilities located on the land, a basic description of utilities and operating costs, how development of a given location would fit within the center’s master plan, as well as other information relevant to development on NASA property. Centers should coordinate with the AA for OSI prior to making any final determination as to whether to provide a Letter of Feasibility for a State proposal. The AA for OSI will review center inputs and sign the Letter of Feasibility on behalf of the agency, if appropriate.
