Determination has been made to conduct an acquisition on “One Source Available/ Brand-Name” basis to Nikon Metrology, LLC. per FAR 13.106-1 (b) (1) (i) for buys not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold. This acquisition is to provide preventative maintenance, service & repairs, and radiation surveys for the Nikon XTV 160 x-ray system. Nikon Metrology, LLC. is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the equipment covered by this contract. Nikon’s software is proprietary which makes them the only company able to update, diagnose, and perform software related repairs on the equipment. Many of the components on the equipment are also proprietary to Nikon which makes them the only company qualified to diagnose, repair, and source the parts necessary to perform service on the system. In order to simplify contract requirements, one contract through Nikon to perform all service on the equipment is necessary.
