West Boundary 2026 Salvage Sale
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a salvage harvest of merchantable pine and hardwood timber that has been damaged by Hurricane Isaias on October 9, 2026, on Blackwater River State Forest in Santa Rosa County, Florida (SFI Certified Forest BVC-SFIFM-700005). Within the total area of 10,194 acres, Florida Forest Service staff have identified areas of extensive damage which may be identified on the attached maps and/or identified while harvesting is ongoing. Substantial damage areas will be the highest priority for harvesting and must be cut before lower damage areas. Approximately 4,032 acres surrounding red cockaded woodpecker clusters will also be prioritized and must be salvaged before March 15, 2027. The successful bidder must begin harvesting within 10 business days of contract execution. There is no volume estimate for this sale. Products include salvage pine pulpwood, salvage pine chip-n-saw, salvage pine sawtimber, and salvage hardwood pulpwood. All timber which is blown down, broken off, leaning more than 15 degrees, or otherwise damaged is available for harvest. Timber that does not meet these criteria may only be harvested by approval of the Forester-in-Charge. Sale boundaries will consist of roads, wetlands, forest boundaries, recreational sites, and any timber type changes or undamaged areas. This salvage is being advertised at the same time as the Coldwater 2026 Salvage Sale and Wolfe Creek 2026 Salvage Sale. In the event that the same bidder places the highest acceptable bid on multiple sales, the successful bidder must forfeit all but one sale to the next highest bidder to allow for a faster response or have adequate equipment and personnel to harvest multiple sales simultaneously. This will be a six (6) month contract. Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting Eric Howell at (850) 957-5725.
The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
