Answers to Questions as of 10/23/2026
Q1. Drawing / specification references
Stamped drawings: sheets 21–27 (repair, expansion joints, hydrodemolition and overlay details); Specifications 03 30 10, 07 18 01; Solicitation Section C and Section B. The project describes modified concrete overlay and hydrodemolition. Prior RFI asserted that Section C references epoxy overlay; exact Section C wording requires final confirmation. Addendum 2 discusses hydrodemolition and overlays but does not establish a revised quantity/payment mechanism.
Confirm the governing deck overlay system at each bridge; design removal depths and limits; whether deck soundings/field deterioration beyond depicted limits are included in the lump sum; treatment and compensation of additional unsound concrete; and required collection, testing, transport and disposal of hydrodemolition wastewater.
A1. No epoxy overlay is included in this project. The governing deck systems are: (a) Lava Creek Bridge (1570-022P): Mill the existing asphalt (estimated 4 in. thick), sound the exposed concrete deck, and complete concrete repairs. Then install a waterproofing membrane and an asphalt overlay matching the existing thickness, 2 in. minimum (Sheet 9 (S03) Item 8; Sheet 30 (T32.12D); Specifications 32 12 16 and 03 30 10).
(b) Thumb Creek Bridge (1570-029P) and Unnamed Creek Bridge (1570-030P): Hydrodemolition to a depth of 1 in. minimum and 1-1/2 in. maximum over the 34'-0" width between curbs, for the full length of each bridge. This is followed by a modified concrete overlay with transverse grooving, either latex-modified (OverlayLM) or silica-fume-modified (Overlay-SF) at the Contractor's option (Sheets 13, 18, and 25; Specification 07 18 01).
The only epoxy or polymer products in the contract documents are polymer resin concrete, epoxy injection, and crack sealing materials under Section 03 30 10. Unsound concrete within the hydrodemolition limits. After the first pass, the Contractor marks remaining unsound concrete for CO approval and removes it with a second pass or approved hand methods (07 18 01, 3.1). The following are included in the lump sum, priced on the quantities in Table 01 32 16: the second-pass removal, the equipment demonstration (3.2.B), and the deck, expansion-joint, and overhang repairs shown on the plans.
Deterioration beyond the depicted limits. If deterioration exceeds the Table 01 32 16 quantities, extends beyond the 1'-0" removal limits at expansion joints or the 1'-6" limits
