Overview
On June 29, 2021, Burdette, Koehler, Murphy, and Associates (BKM) issued construction documents to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the re-balancing of the Cleanrooms in Building 215. Although the design documents were completed and issued, funding for construction has not previously been released. The original intent assumed that the Cleanrooms could be shut down for an extended period and therefore did not include a construction phasing plan. However, NIST has since clarified that extended shutdowns are not permissible, and that construction must be phased to minimize disruption to ongoing Cleanroom operations. The purpose of this project is to develop a construction phasing plan to supplement the Cleanroom Re-Balance design documents.
