1.2. Background: EFT is a short-term structured approach for individual, couple, and family therapy validated by over 30 years of empirical, peer reviewed, outcome research. EFT meets the “gold standard” set by the American Psychological Association for psychotherapy research. The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) is the official organization that qualifies EFT trainers and certifies training. Family Life Chaplain Student cohorts are trained in EFCT each year. Due to the nature of the population of the Fort Bragg community and the clients who come to the Family Life Training Center for counseling services, our student chaplains require EFCT training to ensure safe, competent care for our Soldiers and Families. 1.2.1.
