Non-Disclosure Agreement for Access to
Controlled Unclassified Information

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) must ensure the security of Controlled Unclassified Information. Controlled Unclassified Information is information the Government creates or possesses, or that an entity creates or possesses for or on behalf of the Government, that a law, regulation, or Government-wide policy requires or permits an agency to handle using safeguarding or dissemination controls. This information includes, but is not limited to, any information regarding the security of government personnel or property, non-public information regarding proprietary business interests, information that would interfere with ongoing law enforcement investigations or prosecutions, and information that is specifically protected by statute, such as information pertaining to an individual within a government system of records protected by 5 U.S.C. § 552a (the Privacy Act), tax return information protected by 26 U.S.C. § 6103, Grand Jury information protected by Rule 6(e) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, work-product and deliberative-process privileged information and any other information protected or limited from dissemination by statute, regulation, government-wide policy or recognized privilege. The information defined herein is further protected from dissemination by 18 U.S.C. § 1905. All employees and non-ATF personnel (e.g., contractors, task force officers, and volunteers) must review and acknowledge their responsibilities to protect this information by signing this Agreement. Once signed, this Agreement must be accepted by an authorized ATF official prior to employees or non-ATF personnel being granted access, continued access, or future access to Controlled Unclassified Information. By being granted conditional access to Controlled Unclassified Information, the United States Government has placed special confidence and trust in me, and I am obligated to protect this information from unauthorized disclosure, in accordance with the terms of this Agreement.
