GENERAL

1.01

BACKGROUND

A.

The Bradbury Dam Outlet Works (Outlet Works) was constructed to release storm water flows and prior water rights flows for downstream users. The outlet works arrangement utilizes a diversion tunnel running through the Monterey formation of the left abutment of the dam. Water is conveyed through a concrete-lined tunnel before transitioning to a 38-inch diameter pipe at the approximate midpoint of the outlet line. Once at the Outlet Works, the water proceeds through a trifurcation and is discharged by two 30-inch fixedcone valves and a 10-inch butterfly valve. The Outlet Works has been positioned so that discharges from the valves are released into Bradbury Dam’s stilling basin.
