DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

AFLCMC/GBKHR — JBSA RANDOLPH AFB, TX

SOLICITATION / RFQ: FA873427QR001

Requirement: Commercial Wi-Fi Internet Services & Facility Extension (Building 977) Document: Master Questions & Answers (Q&A) Record
Question 1
Question:
Existing infrastructure: SOW Section 1 and 3.1 require "re-establishing" commercial Wi-Fi in the "previously serviced/currently equipped areas" of Building 977 within 10 business days of award. Are the existing access points, switches, and cabling from the prior service still in place? Are they Government-owned and available for reuse, or must the contractor furnish all new hardware (SOW 3.1, Hardware & Materials)? If equipment remains, please provide the make, model, and quantity of the access points. Government Response:
Yes, the existing wireless infrastructure is Government-owned and fully available for reuse to meet the aggressive ten business day core restoration timeline.

Remaining Equipment Specifications:
Access Points: 12 HPE Aruba AP-303 wireless access points remain installed on-site. Network Switches: Two Aruba 6000 12-port PoE switches remain in place. Cabling: All existing horizontal copper cabling from the switches to these 12 APs remain in place and serviceable.

Contractor Responsibility: The previous carrier removed only their edge demarc router. While the contractor is encouraged to reuse the existing government-owned Aruba hardware for the core areas to reduce mobilization costs, the contractor remains responsible for the engineering, configuration, and maintenance of the complete network. New hardware (switches, APs, and CAT6 cabling) must be furnished and installed by the contractor specifically for the 1st-floor expansion (Wings C & D). See also SOW Section 3.1 (Hardware & Materials) and Section 3.2 (Existing Areas Activation – 10 business days).

Question 2
Question:
Circuit entry: For the dedicated 500 Mbps symmetrical circuit (SOW 3.1 and 3.5), is there an existing commercial demarcation point, conduit, or entrance facility serving Building 977? Are any base communications squadron approvals, dig permits, or outside-plant work expected to bring a new circuit into the building? Government Response:
Physical entrance facilities and conduit pathways to Building 977 are already established from prior service operations. However, there is currently no active commercial internet circuit connected to the building.

The main telecommunications demarcation point is located inside the building's central communications room.
