Questions & Answers-Amendment 03
1. . The Statement of Work calls for removing the two existing roof-mounted units and installing new ground-mounted units on concrete pads. Would the Government accept a quote to replace the existing rooftop units with new rooftop units that meet the specified capacity and efficiency requirements, keeping them in their current location on the roof? Units at grade at this site would be exposed to dirt, sand and debris that can clog coils and shorten equipment life, while the existing rooftop location keeps them clear of that. If ground mounting is required, could you share the reason (for example roof structure, maintenance access, or something else) so we can price it correctly? Response: Ground mounted units are required for this project. In the future we are planning on installing metal roofing onto both houses, so the roof mounted units would impact the coverage of the metal sheeting. Ground mounting would also allow for easier maintenance access.
2. Given the age of the buildings, could you please confirm whether any asbestoscontaining materials or lead-based paint are present in Buildings 100 and 200? Additionally, are there any existing hazardous material surveys or testing reports available for review? If these materials are present, please clarify whether any required testing, abatement, or special handling should be included in the contractor's scope of work.
Response: There is no report to provide, however, per Arizona Game and Fish Department, no hazardous materials were previously found.
3. The specifications mention metal ductwork, but the existing ductwork is flexible. Are we able to use flexible ductwork throughout the project, or does it need to be metal like the specifications say?
Response: Flexible ductwork similar in specification to the existing ductwork is permissible. 4. We'll bid the job per the specifications, but we'd also like to add a recommendation to upgrade the ductwork because we think it would improve the project. Should we bid it twice, once per spec and once with the recommendation?
Response: Offerors may propose an alternative approach as a separate quote submission. 5. In Amendment 2, question 11, I see that you're approving mini split installations. Does that mean they don't have to be made in the United States, or do they still need to meet the Buy American requirement
Response: Buy American is still applicable.
