Item: 2b,2c,2d,2e,2f: Road Survey

Description of Work
Timber Sale Support – Road Package Preparation
Region 1 – Northern Region
General Project Overview: The consultant shall perform surveys on existing forest roads, prescribe pay items, and estimate the cost of pay items. Performing surveys generally consists of traveling a road while collecting data to support prescribing work items. The intent of the work is to support preparation of timber sale contracts which generally consists of preparing plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for each road. Because of constantly changing conditions surrounding forest service timber sale contracts, the forest service anticipates making changes to the delivered products of this order. Subsequently the deliverables of this order include working file types and are intended as a baseline product for the forest service to use as a starting point for developing final construction documents. Prior to starting production work on this order the contractor and forest service COR will coordinate an initial field visit to perform surveys as a group and establish expectations of the final deliverable.
General:
Road Surveys
The roads included in this project will be surveyed using linear methods such as digital road meter or GPS points. Work items and features shall be recorded, converted to a mile post format and delivered in a WSQE spreadsheet format. Surveys are intended to support reconstructing roads to make them suitable for timber sale operations. Typical road reconstruction work includes but is not limited to vegetation clearing, road surface and ditch reconditioning, drainage structure repair or replacement, road widening, and road surface improvement. The forest service will provide a Pay Item Guide (PIG) that provides guidance for gathering survey data, and prescribing work items. Data collected shall be sufficient to quantify the prescribed work into FP-24 pay items and generate a construction cost estimate. Sites requiring survey work beyond the scope of this order shall be documented with photos and communicated to the COR. Generally, if a topography survey would be required to quantify the reconstruction work needed a site would be considered outside the scope of this order, examples may include but not limited to the following: large fill slope slumps, slides, and significant road realignments. The following examples are common criteria used for identifying potential road
