Susan and Alyssa,
This report provides information regarding an asbestos building material survey performed at the pump house building at the San Luis Lakes State Wildlife Area located at 16399 Lane 6 N near Mosca, CO 81146. The sampling was conducted in an effort to determine the asbestos content of suspect materials in the roofing materials prior to its removal and replacement. The 40’ x 50‘ building contains 2000 sf of roofing materials. A repair of 450 sf is present toward the SE part of the roof. Donald Stephens of Asbestos Inspector, LLC is a Certified Asbestos Building Inspector in the State of Colorado and conducted the asbestos sampling.
Eurofins EMLab P & K Laboratory, an independent laboratory accredited by the National Voluntary Accreditation Program (NVLAP) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) analyzed the samples utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
Bulk sampling of suspect building materials was conducted to identify any Asbestos Containing Material (ACM). An ACM is defined by the EPA as a material with an asbestos content of greater than 1% by area. Select bulk samples of suspect building materials were collected throughout the residence. Bulk samples of suspect building materials were collected and analyzed. Description of Suspect Building Materials
The roof is composed of several layers of varying materials including black membrane with coatings, foam insulation panels, and tar paper. There is repair over these materials along the SE edge of the roof that has an additional of rolled asphalt and tar. A white layer was applied in various areas, which was included in all samples. A wood substrate is visible on the underside of the roof from within the building. All sample locations above reached the wood substrate.
