1. SCOPE OF SERVICES – KAUTZ ROAD SUBSTATION
REPLACEMENT
1.1
Description
The Kautz Road Substation (KRS) subproject is one of the subprojects of the Utility Improvement Project (UIP). The subcontracted Architect/Engineer (A/E) has completed the 100% Final Design (FD) of the KRS subproject. Those documents are included for reference. This scope of work is to rebuild and renovate the KRS, which is UIP subproject SP-2. The KRS supplies electricity to various lab buildings and systems. These systems serve both conventional facility needs, as well as process utility requirements. It is vital to Fermilab’s mission that KRS be revitalized and expanded, ensuring the ability to serve existing and future loads.
The Subproject 2 detailed construction requirements and scope of work is defined in the construction drawings and specifications.
1.2
Scope
At a high level, the scope of work for the Kautz Road Substation Rebuild includes but is not limited to the following:

Demolition of existing building, equipment, conduit, ductbanks, MV feeders and others as indicated in the drawings.
Expand KRS for location of new control building which will be located on the existing foundation as well as new pad and supporting structures to accommodate the size increase.
Installation of foundation for new building addition.
Installation of low voltage power to the building and within the building Installation of medium voltage power feeders to the building, including medium voltage transformer.
Civil utilities upgrade and pavement renovation, associated with new site plan. Installation of harmonic filters
Installation of 345kV substation yard equipment.
The scope of work is dictated by the drawings and specifications, which is included as an attachment.
1.3
Activities
All requirements of the Subcontractor are listed in the Division 01 specifications, including required schedule submissions.
